The Legacy Behind Us

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society stands as a beacon of hope and charity, inspired by its namesake, Saint Vincent de Paul. Born in 1581, St. Vincent dedicated his life to serving the needy and is known as the "Apostle of Charity" and "Father of the Poor." As the founder of the Congregation of the Mission and other charitable organizations, his work in training priests and organizing parish missions shaped the Church’s role in modern social service. Today, our SVdP Exeter chapter continues his compassionate legacy, helping those in need locally. The Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul is celebrated on September 27th.

Our Foundation

Saint Vincent de Paul's profound empathy for the disadvantaged, shaped by his own challenging experiences including captivity and enslavement, led him to establish key charitable institutions during his lifetime. These institutions were the precursors to the modern Saint Vincent de Paul Society. His vision was clear: to provide relief and support to the poor, the abandoned, and the neglected.

Our Mission

Our efforts are powered by a dedicated network of volunteers and donors who share our commitment to compassion, humility, and generosity. Together, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. The influence of Saint Vincent de Paul is evident in the extensive network of organizations named after him, which includes our chapter, SVdP Exeter. We are dedicated to his mission, providing critical resources such as food, financial assistance, and more to those in need. Our initiatives are specifically designed to address the needs of low-income individuals and families in our local communities, including Exeter, Stratham, Newfields, Brentwood, Kensington, and East Kingston.

Our Inspiration

Our chapter is profoundly inspired by the example set by Saint Vincent de Paul. We strive to emulate his dedication to service, extending a helping hand to all in need. His life and work remind us of the powerful impact we can have by caring for others and acting with kindness and charity. Through ongoing community engagement and service, we honor the legacy of Saint Vincent de Paul, committing ourselves to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and the broader community.
